A Winter dream in the middle of Los Angeles

FILED IN: California

Fairmont Century Plaza, a recently reopened luxury landmark hotel that’s been in the community since 1966, just debuted a Winter dream in the middle of Los Angeles with their Swiss Chalet “après-ski” dining experience. Even though we don’t have the slopes (or weather) that are usually key elements in an après-ski experience, the Fairmont has pulled off the perfect ambiance!

For a limited time during this festive season, The Fairmont with transport their guests to the whimsically festive ski slopes of the Swiss Alps. The space is made for celebrating the holidays inspired by tradition, community and shared experiences. The patio of the Bar at the Fairmont has been adorned with wooden Swiss chalets, beautifully built and luxuriously decorated, accompanied by cozy fire pits.

A Winter dream in the middle of Los Angeles // Chalet Experience

Need space and a fun experience for a big group? The chalet is what you are looking for! Each one holds up to 8 and can host 6 at a minimum! Enjoy a curated selection of winter cocktails and a delectable fixed menu of mains, starters and your choice of cheese or chocolate fondue for $125/person. You can get more info and book the chalets here.

I got to taste through the delicious hearty menu! My favorites were the short rib croquettes and pork ribs! You can taste the thoughtfulness that went into the menu, with a huge focus on it being a shareable family style experience.

Cheese Fondue

The cheese fondue was such a fun interactive dish! Be careful! If you lose a piece of food to the gooey cheesy depths, you’re responsible for buying a round of drinks for the table. 😉

Did you know that cheese fondue is a Swiss tradition dating back to the 18th century? The Fairmont’s rendition is a melting pot of Emmental, Fontina and Beaufort cheese. It comes with baby potatoes, crusty bread, croccoli, cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms, chicken skewers, tofu/veggie skewers, sausage and cornichons.

Festive Cocktails

I sipped on my drinks of choice for the evening – the Hot Spiked Cider (Whiskey, Benedictine, Lemon Juice, Honey, Apple Cider, Bitters) & Saint Martinez (Sweet Gwendoline Gin, Carpano Antica Formula, Maraschino, Fig)! The cocktail menu also includes their take on the Espresso Martini (Espresski Martini) & a cocktail inspired by Dita Von Teese! Of course they’ve included a wonderful selection of wine, champagne and non-alcoholic options.

I hope you get have a wonderful holiday season wherever you are,

Corey
